We are proud to announce the launch of the first of several deep-tech innovation districts to be established across Europe through TECHSIGHT: the Deep Tech Innovation District Skopje.

Led by Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje / Универзитет „Св. Кирил и Методиј“ во Скопје (UKIM) - Prof.Dr. Valentina Gecevska, the district’s vision and key objectives were presented by Prof. Dr. Vladimir Trajkovikand Prof. Dr. Radmil Polenakovikj.

The district will provide a strategic framework for quadruple-helix collaboration, bringing together academia, industry, government and civil society across Skopje - one of the region’s most vibrant and rapidly developing innovation ecosystems. It will strengthen connections between innovation actors, accelerate knowledge transfer and support the development of sustainable deep-tech ventures.

As part of the Summit, Marjan N. from THENEWWAY facilitated the strategic foresight workshop for 30+ startup founders. Delivered in coordination with the official TECHSIGHT Incubation and Acceleration Programme, the workshop challenged founders to explore emerging trends, anticipate future disruption and position their ventures for long-term impact.

We are delighted to see the first Deep Tech Innovation District facilitated by the TECHSIGHT Project officially launched—turning our shared vision for connected, future-ready regional innovation ecosystems into action.

One message stands out from the week: as rapid advances in deep tech generate both optimism and concern, maintaining momentum for ethical, responsible and environmentally sustainable deep tech innovation is crucial.

Five key outcomes from TECHSIGHT’s participation:
1.The week reinforced the importance of embedding ethics, sustainability and environmental responsibility into deep tech innovation and entrepreneurship.
2.We introduced TECHSIGHT to stakeholders interested in supporting our vision through expertise, partnerships and connections.
3.Our Deep Tech Incubation and Acceleration programmes, as well as our portfolio of companies, attracted attention from several venture capital investors focused on early-stage, research-based and climate-focused deep tech innovation.
4.Several climate tech and other deep tech startups expressed interest in learning more about our Deep Tech Incubator and Accelerator programmes.
5.We opened conversations about connecting US-based deep tech startups with European innovation ecosystems, research partnerships and funding opportunities, where eligible, amid a decline in US government funding opportunities.

Today, our Macedonian partner, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje / Универзитет „Св. Кирил и Методиј“ во Скопје (UKIM), is taking part in the country’s first European Researchers' Night’ through a programme of events connecting science, innovation and society under the theme “CHOOSE SCIENCE-ИЗБЕРИ НАУКА!” 🇲🇰🇪🇺

🌱 Earlier today,TECHSIGHT Project was presented and discussed at the Green Ideas Competition event part of this initative, organised by UKIM’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Ss.Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje, with Prof. Dr.Valentina Gecevska, Prof. Dr.Radmil Polenakovikj and Prof. Dr.Trajce Velkovski.

The event was honoured by the presence of the Macedonian Minister of Education and Science, Prof.Dr.Vesna Janevska.

The programme included opening remarks and a keynote address by several stakeholders including Marjan N., Managing Director and Innovation Expert at Copenhagen-based strategic innovation consultancy THENEWWAY, keynote:

“Green Opportunities on the Horizon: From Idea to Future Venture - Horizon Scanning and Design Thinking through the TECHSIGHT Approach.”

The presentation explored how students can recognise signals of change, understand emerging needs and develop green business ideas. It demonstrated how future thinking and innovation methodologies can help young people generate different solutions, compare their potential and select an idea for further testing and development.
It also connected green entrepreneurship with career exploration, showing how developing a project can help students discover their interests, identify relevant skills and explore future green professions.

For TECHSIGHT, this is an opportunity to bring future thinking closer to young people and support their first steps towards sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship.

With more than 100 participants, this hybrid event was a great success! The TECHSIGHT team congratulates our UKIM colleagues on their first participation in European Researchers’ Night and wishes them continued success throughout the programme!

Over the summer,TECHSIGHT Project, led by theCentar za promociju nauke / Center for the Promotion of Sciencehosted a series of high level policy roundtables exploring what is needed to build, launch and sustain deep tech innovation districts.

The discussions brought together stakeholders at three connected levels:
Micro level: TECHSIGHT partners and supporting organisations
Meso level: regional innovation ecosystems
Macro level: national, European and international policy perspectives

A sincere thank you to the guest experts, policy leaders and representatives from TECHSIGHT’s 50+ associated, strategic partners and other industy and governance representatives. Your insights on governance, collaboration, technology transfer, investment, sustainability and ecosystem development are helping shape the policy foundations for future deep tech districts.

Over two inspiring days in Berlin, theTECHSIGHT Projectproudly showcased its vision for the future of deep tech innovation, entrepreneurship, and regional ecosystem development at one of Europe's largest technology and AI events.

Representing TECHSIGHT at the official project booth were#MarjanNikolovski, Innovation Expert and Managing Director of#THENEWWAY, Prof. Dr.Michael A. Herzog, and LecturerWilfried RulandsofHochschule Magdeburg-Stendal, who welcomed innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors, and future changemakers from across Europe. We were also delighted to welcome H2 students, who visited our booth to learn more about strategic foresight, horizon scanning, and how TECHSIGHT is preparing the next generation of deep tech leaders.

This year's event sent a clear message: Europe is accelerating its deep tech ambitions.

The conference opened with inspiring remarks from Berlins Mayor and Senator for Economic Affairs, energy and Public Enterprices (Senatsverwaltung für Wirtschaft, Energie und Betriebe) , Franziska Giffey , highlighting Berlin's commitment to becoming one of Europe's leading deep tech and AI hubs through its new Deep Tech Agenda. This vision was further reinforced by Federal Minister for Digital Transformation and Goverment Modernisation,Karsten Wildberger, who shared Germany's strategy for strengthening Europe's digital sovereignty, AI infrastructure, and innovation competitiveness.

We also had a great pleasure to meetEuropean Commission's, DG GROW, Director for Simplification & NetworksAnna Athanasopoulou. We were pleased to present the TECHSIGHT vision and discuss opportunities for our upcoming Deep Tech Innovation Districts to be further supported and integrated into existing European regional innovation ecosystem initiatives with goal to secure long term sustainability.

From 10–12 June 2026, the TECHSIGHT Project proudly participated in the 20th SYMORG 2026 International Symposium in Kopaonik, Serbia titled Resilient and Intelligent Organizations in Times of Permanent Disruption,
contributing to the panel discussion "Building Entrepreneurial Ecosystems in Higher Education: From Living Labs to Academia-Industry Collaboration."

Representing the project as panelists, Prof. Dr. Huseyin Uvet, from Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi- TECHSIGHT Project Coordinator, and MarjanNikolovski, Innovation Expert and Managing Director of THENEWWAY, shared TECHSIGHT's and previous experiences best practices in regional innovation ecosystem development and discussed how strategic foresight, academia-industry collaboration, and entrepreneurial education, through systematic approaches, open innovation principes and PPPs (private - public partnerships) can strengthen Europe's deep tech landscape.

A key highlight was the presentation of TECHSIGHT's upcoming Deep Tech Innovation Districts, currently being developed across multiple partner countries to support stronger regional innovation ecosystems, foster cross-sector collaboration, and accelerate the growth of deep tech entrepreneurship, as framework for living labs aproaches and work.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Ana Miličević for great moderation and Alexandra Petcu for great conversation. A special thank you goes to Prof. Dr.Zorica Bogdanovicfor the kind invitation and the warm hospitality throughout the whole conference.

The symposium also provided an excellent opportunity to organise an EIT Higher Education Initiative, Cohort 4 Strand B cross-project meeting between the TECHSIGHT and TROPHY projects. Together, we exchanged experiences, explored opportunities for future collaboration, and discussed how to maximise the long-term impact of the EIT Higher Education Initiative by creating stronger synergies between projects.

Events like SymOrg FON demonstrate the importance of collaboration across universities, industry, policymakers, and innovation support organisations in building stronger regional innovation ecosystems and advancing Europe's deep tech future.

The TECHSIGHT Project is proud to contribute to the 21st International Conference 2026 – Future-Ready Skills: Cultivating Digital Fluency and Opportunity for Youth, Women, and Displaced Communities, held in Prague, Czech Republic.

At the conference, MarjanNikolovski- Innovation Expert and Managing Director of the strategic innovation consultancy THENEWWAY presented the paper:

📄 "Strategic Foresight and Horizon Scanning as Future-Thinking Methodologies for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Capacity Building in Deep Tech: The Macedonian Example"

Co-authored by MarjanNikolovski, Mila Velkovska, Ema Vasileska Tuteska, Prof. Dr. Radmil Polenakovikj, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Trajkovik, and Prof. Dr.Valentina Gecevska, the paper explores how strategic foresight and horizon scanning can enrich entrepreneurship and innovation education in deep-tech environments by strengthening students' ability to think beyond current technologies, markets, and business models.

Using the Macedonian implementation of the TECHSIGHT Project under the EIT Higher Education Initiative as a case study, the research examines how guest lectures and joint lectures integrated into existing Entrepreneurship and New Product Development courses at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Ss.Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje and Entrepreneurship courses at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering - Skopje at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje introduced students to strategic foresight, horizon scanning, weak-signal detection, and future opportunity recognition. Rather than creating new standalone courses, the project tested how future-thinking methodologies could be embedded directly into existing entrepreneurship and innovation curricula.

The findings suggest that these foresight-oriented interventions helped students strengthen:
1. Anticipatory awareness
2. Opportunity recognition
3. Systems thinking
4. Innovation judgement
5. Entrepreneurial decision-making under uncertainty

The paper argues that deep-tech entrepreneurship education should move beyond venture creation and business planning alone. Future entrepreneurs and innovators must also be equipped to identify emerging opportunities, interpret weak signals, understand ecosystem dynamics, and navigate uncertain technological futures. Strategic foresight and horizon scanning therefore act not as an add-on, but as a competence-building layer that enhances entrepreneurship and innovation education.

It was a pleasure to share the results of the TECHSIGHT journey and engage in discussions on how higher education can better prepare future deep-tech leaders and innovators.

On June 16, we held the final presentations session, where participants showcased their assignments and shared inspiring visions of where they see their organisations in the future.

Through their presentations, they demonstrated strong narratives about their organisations, the environments in which they expect to operate by 2035, and clear roadmaps outlining how to reach their preferred futures. These roadmaps were developed based on the identification of relevant weak signals, emerging trends, and key drivers shaping their strategic visions.

Yesterday, more than 100 students closed their Entrepreneurship course journey with Prof. Dr.Radmil PolenakovikjandMila VelkovskaatFaculty of Mechanical Engineering at Ss.Cyril and Methodius University of Skopjea hands-on, in-person workshop on Strategic Foresight.

The workshop invited students to look beyond today’s business models and explore how their startup ideas could evolve toward 2035, using foresight thinking to anticipate future scenarios, emerging opportunities, and pathways toward the most desirable outcomes.

The session was facilitated by MarjanNikolovski, Innovation Expert and Managing Director of the strategic innovation consultancy THENEWWAY.

What made the experience even more inspiring was the participation of guest students from DHBW Mannheim, creating mixed working groups of Macedonian and German students. This brought an important international and cross-cultural dimension to the discussions, strengthening peer learning, collaboration, and future-oriented entrepreneurial thinking.

Through guest and joint lectures and workshops across the cross-consortia courses, the TECHSIGHT Project has already achieved more than 50% of its Phase 2 student training targets.

Even more importantly, almost all participating students come from STEM fields, directly contributing to the EU’s Union of Skills and the STEM Education Strategic Plan target of training 200,000 people from STEM fields in innovation, entrepreneurship, and IP management.

At TECHSIGHT Project, we believe that the next generation of STEM entrepreneurs needs more than technical knowledge. They need the ability to anticipate change, understand uncertainty, and build startups that are prepared for the futures ahead.

This week, during the mentoring session of the "Future Horizons: Strategic Innovation and Deep Tech Leadership" executive course, participants - leaders had the opportunity to revisit the learning objectives, discuss their final assignments, and receive feedback to further strengthen their final presentations.

In fast-changing deep tech environments, leadership is not only about making quick decisions. It is also about creating space to step back, question assumptions, connect signals, and better understand how today’s choices may shape future opportunities.

Reflection helps leaders to:
- make sense of complexity and uncertainty
- connect learning with strategic action
- identify blind spots and emerging opportunities
- strengthen long-term thinking and decision-making
- develop more intentional and future-oriented leadership practices

This session created an important space for dialogue, feedback, and deeper reflection ahead of the final presentations and certification session on June 16. 🎓

Yesterday, the TECHSIGHT Project was presented by Marjan Nikolovski, Managing Director and Innovation Expert at THENEWWAY, at the CNN TECH Conference - International Conference of Experimental and Numerical Investigations and New Technologies at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering University of Belgrade with the presentation:

“Beyond Innovation: Why Deep Tech Entrepreneurship Requires Strategic Foresight – The TECHSIGHT Perspective.”

The presentation explored one of the growing challenges within Europe’s deep tech landscape:
Why conventional entrepreneurship support models are no longer sufficient for deep tech startups operating in environments shaped by technological disruption, regulatory uncertainty, industrial transformation, and long innovation cycles.

As deep tech increasingly becomes a strategic priority for Europe’s competitiveness, resilience, sustainability, and technological sovereignty, the discussion highlighted the need for stronger integration of strategic foresight and horizon scanning into innovation and entrepreneurship support systems.

Key reflections from the session included:
1.Deep tech entrepreneurship is not simply about launching startups — it is about shaping future markets, ecosystems, and societal transitions.
2.Deep tech ventures operate under multiple layers of uncertainty: • technological • market • regulatory • ecosystem and adoption uncertainty
3.Traditional startup support often focuses on current market validation and short-term execution, while deep tech ventures require long-term strategic positioning and future-oriented decision-making.

The presentation introduced the TECHSIGHT approach as part of our Deep Tech Startup Support and Accelerator programmes, combining Entrepreneurial capability development with Future Thinking Methodologies and Ecosystem alignment.

The session also demonstrated how future-thinking methodologies can help deep tech founders and innovation ecosystems:

On May 13, an academic staff training session was held at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi within the scope of the TECHSIGHT Project.
The training, delivered by Assoc. Prof. Ertugrul Bayraktar and Asst. Prof. Onurcan Sahin, introduced the TECHSIGHT methodology and contributed to strengthening academic capacity, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovation-driven approaches in higher education.

We are proud to support knowledge sharing and academic development through the TECHSIGHT initiative.

We are looking forward to participating in the 20th International Symposium SymOrg FON in Kopaonik, Serbia, and discussing the TECHSIGHT Project as an example of how to set strategic frameworks for living lab concepts through the upcoming Deep Tech Innovation Districts — as enablers of industry–academia collaboration led by Higher Education Institutions and supported by public–private partnerships (PPPs).

The TECHSIGHT Project contributed to a Strategic Foresight and Scenario Planning workshop, supporting the European Commission in shaping policy development for enlargement countries.

This workshop formed part of a broader European Commission study exploring the future of research and innovation (R&I) across ten EU-aligned candidate countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Türkiye, and Ukraine.

Representing TECHSIGHT, Prof.Dr. Radmil Polenakovikj (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Ss.Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje and President of the National Centre for Development of Innovations and Entrepreneurial Learning) and MarjanNikolovski (Innovation Expert and Managing Director of the strategic innovation consultancy THENEWWAY) contributed to the development of forward-looking scenarios outlining how R&I systems in these regions could evolve by 2040.

These scenarios will serve as a foundation for upcoming country-level focus groups and a cross-regional comparative analysis, ultimately informing tangible, evidence-based policy recommendations for the European Commission.

As TECHSIGHT’s core mission is to strengthen deep tech regional innovation ecosystems, contributing to these policy recommendations—and helping shape the future framework for R&I in this part of Europe—represents a highly strategic opportunity that directly amplifies the impact of our work.

Today, as part of the “Future Horizons: Strategic Innovation and Deep Tech Leadership” course for Deep Tech Leaders and Governmental stakeholders, the TECHSIGHT Project facilitated an online foresight workshop for deep tech leaders and governmental/public-sector stakeholders.

The session was designed around one strategic question:
“Where is my organisation in 2035?”

Using the Future Cone method, participants explored emerging weak signals, the forces driving them, and the different future pathways these signals could open up - from probable and plausible futures to possible, preferable, and even preposterous scenarios.

In a focused two-hour process, participants moved beyond forecasting and linear planning. They examined uncertainty as a strategic resource, identified their preferred future positioning, and worked backwards to define concrete actions that could help their organisations move toward that future.

The workshop highlighted a key message for future-oriented leadership:
The future is not something organisations simply wait for - it is something they can actively explore, prepare for, and shape.

For Deep Tech ecosystems, where technological, societal, regulatory, and market conditions are evolving rapidly, strategic foresight is becoming an essential capability for long-term resilience, innovation leadership, and informed decision-making.

We are pleased to announce that Marjan Nikolovski will be speaking at the CNN Tech Conference on 27 May, as part of the Regional Innovation Forum. In his lecture, “Beyond Innovation: Why Deep Tech Entrepreneurship Requires Strategic Foresight – The TECHSIGHT Perspective,” Marjan will share insights into how strategic foresight and horizon scanning can strengthen the future of deep tech entrepreneurship, innovation ecosystems, and higher education-led innovation. Marjan Nikolovski is an innovation expert, entrepreneur, intrapreneur, and strategic relationship builder with more than 15 years of experience in innovation, business development, and cross-sector partnerships across academia, industry, and the public sector. With an international academic background, including a Master’s degree in Organisational Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Copenhagen Business School, he brings extensive expertise in innovation ecosystems, leadership, and deep tech entrepreneurship. Through the TECHSIGHT initiative, Marjan contributes to strengthening the innovation and entrepreneurship capacities of European Higher Education Institutions by applying strategic foresight and horizon scanning methodologies. The project aims to position European HEIs as global leaders in sustainable and inclusive deep tech innovation, while fostering stronger collaboration between academia, industry, government, and society. His contribution at CNN Tech will highlight why deep tech entrepreneurship requires more than technological excellence — it requires the ability to anticipate change, navigate uncertainty, and build future-ready innovation ecosystems.

Last week in Riga, the TECHSIGHT consortium gathered for an in-person 2 days project meeting alongside participation in Deep Tech Atelier 2026 — one of Northern Europe’s leading deep tech conferences.

The combination of strategic consortium discussions and engagement with the wider European deep tech ecosystem created an important moment for reflection on where Europe’s innovation landscape is heading, and how projects like TECHSIGHT can contribute to shaping it.

A few key insights strongly resonated throughout the week:
• Deep tech is increasingly becoming a strategic priority for Europe — not only from an innovation perspective, but also in relation to industrial competitiveness, resilience, security, and long-term societal transformation.
• Europe’s challenge is no longer only generating excellent research, but strengthening the pathways from science to commercialisation, adoption, and ecosystem impact.
• Smaller and emerging ecosystems can play a leading role when they focus on collaboration, specialisation, and cross-border connectivity, rather than trying to replicate larger hubs.
• Strategic foresight, horizon scanning, and future-oriented thinking are becoming increasingly relevant for deep tech entrepreneurship and regional innovation ecosystem development.

During the consortium meeting, partners also discussed the next phase of TECHSIGHT activities, including:
▪ strengthening regional Deep Tech Innovation Districts
▪ expanding quadruple helix collaboration
▪ supporting deep tech startups and innovation leaders
▪ further integrating strategic foresight into higher education and entrepreneurship capacity building

Beyond the formal programme, the week created valuable opportunities for networking and future collaboration with innovation actors, investors, accelerators, universities, and ecosystem builders from across Europe and beyond.

A strong reminder that Europe’s future deep tech leadership will depend not only on technology itself, but on our ability to build connected, future-oriented, and collaborative innovation ecosystems.

TECHSIGHT was pleased to participate in the TONIK Conference in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands - a highly valuable platform for engaging with Nordic and North Atlantic innovation actors operating at the intersection of deep tech, entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity, and future-oriented innovation ecosystem development.

Through targeted discussions, we explored concrete collaboration opportunities with Icelandic innovation actors, the innovation ecosystem in Faroe Islands, Northern Scandinavian business angel networks, and Danish quantum innovation actors.
These exchanges reinforced the growing importance of stronger cross-border collaboration between emerging and leading innovation ecosystems across Scandinavia, Europe and beyond!

A key takeaway from the dialogue is the strategic role that smaller nations and regional ecosystems can play as agile leaders in innovation, if the right mindset, policies and specialisation targets are well defined.

TONIK also provided valuable insights into:
• Funding pathways and investment readiness for deep tech startups.
• The role of angel investor networks in scaling innovation ecosystems.
• Open innovation approaches, including perspectives inspired by NASA Open Innovation practices.
• Future-oriented ecosystem building and regional innovation leadership.
• The strategic importance of quantum and advanced technologies for Europe’s future competitiveness.

For TECHSIGHT, these exchanges strongly align with our mission to strengthen future-thinking capacities, deep tech innovation ecosystems, and collaboration between higher education, industry, investors, and public actors across Europe.

The conference provided a high-level space to engage with founders, ecosystem leaders, policymakers, and innovation actors, reinforcing the importance of coordinated, place-based approaches to innovation.

For TECHSIGHT, this was more than participation. Last Friday, we were proud to present the TECHSIGHT Project at the EIT Culture & Creativity internal showcase event, where Cohort 4 projects came together to exchange ideas, build connections, and explore opportunities for stronger collaboration across the innovation landscape.

At TECHSIGHT, we are working to future-proof higher education capacities for regional and global leadership in deep tech innovation by combining strategic foresight, horizon scanning, innovation, and entrepreneurship capacity building. What makes this journey especially powerful is that it is not only visionary, but also deeply regional and action-oriented.

Today, TECHSIGHT is already engaging 50+ Strategic Partnerships across Europe, bringing together universities, industry actors, research institutions, public bodies, clusters, chambers, startup communities, and civil society organisations. This growing ecosystem is helping us lay the foundations for the upcoming Deep Tech Innovation Districts in multiple countries, connecting talent, knowledge transfer, startup support, industrial relevance, and public-sector engagement to strengthen long-term regional innovation capacity.

Did you know that the TECHSIGHT Project has developed its own Strategic Foresight & Horizon Scanning Methodological Framework?

Co-led by Prof. Dr. Onurcan Sahin and Prof. Dr. Ertugrul Bayraktar, this framework was shaped over several months through an intensive process of discussions, co-design, and co-creation across the consortium.

What makes it especially valuable is that it was not developed only in theory. The methodology was tested and refined through multiple iterations with diverse stakeholder groups - from industry experts and academics to hundreds of students engaged through lectures and applied learning activities.

The result is a practical, analytical, step-by-step framework designed to help users better understand emerging change and identify weak signals in the deep tech space.

In the next two sessions of our executive programme, Future Horizons: Strategic Innovation & Deep Tech Leadership, our participants - Leaders will have the opportunity not only to learn about the framework, but also to apply it hands-on!

Our first introductory session brought together an inspiring group of deep tech industry leaders, startup founders, experienced entrepreneurs, governmental stakeholders, and non for profit leaders committed to strengthening deep tech innovation ecosystems.

It was a pleasure to present the main objectives of theTECHSIGHT Project, introduce the course’s core team of lecturers, facilitators, and mentors, and share the full programme as we opened this learning journey with such a strong community of forward-looking participants!

In the upcoming sessions, we will explore how strategic foresight and horizon scanning can help accelerate deep tech growth, strengthen decision-making, and support the mindset transformation needed to lead innovation in uncertain and rapidly evolving environments.

Today we had two exceptional guests

First, our partner, from Denmark, form the TECHSIGHT Project, Mr. MarjanNikolovski, shared valuable insights on strategic foresight and horizon-scanning methodologies, explaining how our students can recognize and anticipate future trends in deep tech.
Then Mr. Darko Petrovski, the President of the Macedonian Human Resources Association, added the human perspective - discussing future jobs and the skills that will be essential for the next decade.

Both guests were outstanding, and my students and I truly enjoyed their lectures and the engaging Q&A sessions.

Earlier this month, a meeting of TECHSIGHT project partners and Advisory Board members was held at the Rectorate of Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje / Универзитет „Св. Кирил и Методиј“ во Скопје, focusing on knowledge exchange, partnership building, and the next steps of the TECHSIGHT initiative.

During the meeting, it was announced that TECHSIGHT has successfully completed its first project phase, receiving high evaluation scores for its preparatory activities. The meeting brought together representatives from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (UKIM), StartUp Club Skopje, ИНОВА / INOVA- Agency for innovation, scientific and
technological development and entrepreneurship, Akron Staklo, and NCDIEL- National Centre for Development of Innovation and Entrepreneurial Learning.

This diverse participation enabled a productive exchange between academia, the start-up ecosystem, regional development actors, and the private sector, confirming the importance of strong partnerships and coordinated action in creating sustainable innovation ecosystems.

TECHSIGHT continues to serve as a key platform for connecting higher education with industry and regional stakeholders, supporting innovation-driven growth and development in the region.

January was a busy month, marked by multiple work package and task kick-off meetings, consortium meetings, and today we officially held our full-day Phase 2 kick-off meeting, with the goal of aligning activities across all work packages.

Exciting initiatives are coming up, including courses for industry, designed for deep tech leaders and professionals, participation in several deep tech conferences and events across the globe, co-authoring conference and academic papers, as well as a wide range of capacity-building activities, co-creation sessions, workshops, a deep tech podcast series, and accelerator programmes.

One of the many goals of TECHSIGHT is to empower universities to lead the development of their regional innovation ecosystems. By fully engaging partners across the quadruple helix - academia, industry, government, and society - TECHSIGHT is laying the foundation for upcoming deep tech innovation districts in Türkiye, Serbia, North Macedonia, Latvia, Germany, and Portugal.

We do this by drawing inspiration from Danish best practices in innovation ecosystem development and translating them into local and regional contexts across Europe.

The project focuses on building long-term, systemic frameworks, rather than isolated activities. Already in Phase 1, new strategic partnerships have been established, Memoranda of Understanding signed, and local Advisory Boards formed for the upcoming innovation districts.

Earlier this winter, MarjanNikolovski, Innovation Expert and Managing Director of the strategic innovation consultancy THENEWWAY- Danish project partner, had the honour of co-hosting a Macedonian National Innovation Delegation on a study tour to Denmark. The visit directly supported the future development of theDeepTech Innovation District Skopje, providing hands-on insights into how strong innovation ecosystems are built, governed, and sustained.

Daniela Dimovska, Director of the newly established National Agency for Innovation, Scientific and Technological Development and Entrepreneurship (INOVA), Mr. Igor Nikoloski, Senior State Advisor for Entrepreneurship, Mr. Jumni Ademi, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy and Labour of North Macedonia, as well as other senior government representatives. During the visit, the delegation engaged with key Danish innovation ecosystem actors such as Digital Hub Denmark, Creative Denmark, BLOXHUB, and EIFO, and participated in major ecosystem events linked to the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU 2025, including the European SME Assembly and Scale-Up Europe (part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week Denmark).
